Talent, Creativity, Innovation, Competences, Passion and Leadership.
Talent and vocation are the basis of everything.
Talent is a natural predisposition to imagination, perception and intuition in a determined area or topic, that when developed, allows us to foray into beyond the known, discovering, creating and innovating.
Talent is the tip of the spear of any new foray, and then rationality enters to support the hypothesis.
Notwithstanding, talent is not enough. This must be at service of our Essential Goal.
Many have obtained outcomes that don’t provide satisfaction. This is the case of who have put their talent on stake, but not at service of their vocation.
There are people who possess talent in something but not the vocation in the same, so there is not targeted energy on it, or satisfaction for this task.
A case that describes this very well is about a high businessman of an eminent North American bank that asked for consultancy. He had (has) a great ability and success in his job, a very high salary and every kind of guarantees.
However, he said that he didn’t see himself doing that a lifetime, he wanted to something more important in his life.
What did this mean? This meant that he didn’t feel pleasure doing that work, because his abilities were not at service of his essential goal. His Life Goal was not the marketing one if it wasn’t oriented to the sociological goal.
There are people who possess a range of talents (as Leonardo Da Vinci) that seem to be separate between them, but there is a common thread among them that is his Essential Goal.
Thanks to his talents, Leonardo da Vinci forayed into varied disciplines like Painting, Sculpting, Anatomy, Physics, Engineering and others, but his Essential Goal was always the same: To expand human knowledge relative to the study of FORMS, in both aesthetic and functional aspects and he forayed into everything that supported this goal.
He was integrally an architect. Here we can see clearly where talents are at service of an Essential Goal. HIS ESSENTIAL GOAL.
But you have to know how this essential goal is expressed and distinguished from all the other interests that we have.
This is part of the job we develop and perform in this website.
Talent is not assessed, it is detected.
When you want to evaluate talent, is not possible to distinguish it from acquired skills, and as this talent hasn’t been developed yet, it cannot rival trained skills.
In addition, measuring talent involves a response speed, and people don’t always express their talent that way. Finally, in every survey we enter to alertness and nervousness, which subtracts to our answer. All of this alters a talent assessment.
It doesn’t make sense to assess talent or creativity; because, there are no standard levels in this. It is a dynamic process in the pipeline. Besides, which is the importance to know in what level of development is it?
What makes sense and that is possible, is to detect its presence, in order to let it flow.
Generalized talent does not exist. Every single talent is selective, specific for different scopes. If you want to detect it, it should be considered in its type. The best way to spot talent is through intuition, imagination and targeted and permanent observation in a topic or area.
A competence is different from talent because the first one could be acquired through exercising in a specific application, so it leads us to perform it well, but it doesn’t necessarily ensures talent.
Many of us feel able to learn from any discipline and do it well. And it’s true, but it doesn’t mean that we can make a personal contribution to it.
The contribution is a creation or a discovery of some aspect of reality and for this we need of imagination, intuition and perception of reality; aspects that are not possible to be learnt or acquired. They come with us for a determined discipline or topic.
Leadership is product of vocation (Essential goal).
Putting talent at service of vocation, passion sprouts with strength.
Competences are not source of passion and leadership, because they don’t guarantee energy and task-based motivation, or the encounter of satisfaction and sense of your life in it.
This is the origin of strength and motivation of every leadership.
In our line of leadership, strength sprouts from within and it pushes its realization. It doesn’t even need to propose it.
Here is the passion that communicates and allows being a leader in what we do. We have to DISCOVER in what line we are a natural leader, to keep improving on that.
There are rates in puberty that show clearly where each passion’s goes to.
Creativity and innovation are a result of talent.
Creativity will not emerge in us to adopt thought strategies like the “brainstorming” or “divergent thinking”.
This only shakes us from stereotypes, which is very positive, but it doesn’t lead us to creativity. Apart from that, this practice is more applied in the operating area and for the one who is creative in this field is fine, but in people whose creativity lies in other areas such as the philosophical, or musical or psychological area, etc, won’t be useful for them, they go by other rails.
For Instance, the process of artistic perception doesn’t correlate with this practice or the process of development the scientific thought leads, etc.
Neither can we stimulate a student’s creativity through the development of skills, dexterity, capabilities and knowledge.
For example, in the musical area, you can reach mastering a technique perfectly, or playing an instrument properly, but if it doesn’t flow naturally in one, this type of creativity won’t be able to achieve a personal seal in this, or delivering new contribution. And so it is with any discipline.
Specialists are people that have achieved complete knowledge in a task. And if that person is not creative in that task, it is because in spite of having put all his effort in acquiring knowledge, it is not in the field of his creativity, is just that.
It’s not about a person who is NOT CREATIVE. For instance, having artistic creativity is not the same as having organizational creativity. Hence it is necessary to DISCOVER the natural creativity of each one.
We must discover in which line each one is creative.
Both vocation and talent are not possible to be learnt, nor finding them out of yourself. They are discovered in each one.
Each person brings a topic and energy aimed towards something, there the innate creativity lies in all of us, but there are many factors which leave it without any opportunity of development.
Among them, our way of thinking, serving always to the practical and convenient, underestimating what we consider what is not; the overload of tasks which doesn’t give time to think or relax, insecurity, underestimation and little credit to our feeling and thinking, giving more credit to others and the external atmosphere, than ourselves.
All of this cuts the passage to dreaming, to let our mind wander and be driven by its natural motivation and energy.
The mind has its own story; it begins to develop subjects even if one doesn’t know where they go, until they take shape and we just realize what it was about.
But we don’t pay attention to it; we don’t give it time or credit. However, in that story our Life Goal, Potential and Energy lie in.
Everything that aims to support this process will be making way to creativity in people.
It is necessary to give place to the mind so that it flows where it wants to go.
In leisure appears inspiration, imagination and intuition; but we pack them with tasks and even organize the games.
Showing it a range of activities where it can find its own preferences is not enough; it is valid only to recognize some of its interests, and within a very narrow scope.
To propose certain activities in group is necessary and positive to learn to relate to others; but it doesn’t replace free time.
Talent is in itself, it is not obtained from knowledge. It doesn’t mean is not important educating and informing yourself.
What must be taught is the methodology and knowledge to reach the goals that drive us to those reasons.
Whereas talent, creativity and vocation are not issues that can be taught, but discovered in each one, the knowledge, the know-how, relating well to others ARE aspects that can be learned.
This input is not born of a spontaneous occurrence, can be seen thus, but it brings an observation and analysis background with talent and passion (vocation), that comes since puberty, in all of us.
If there isn’t anything of that discipline in me, I won’t be able to contribute anything to it.
Talent has already been developing naturally since puberty, but we don’t realize. Some continue to develop that creativity and some others deviate and drop it due to atmosphere influences when placing value to aspects that are not our own.
But this line can be resumed, discovering the signs given during puberty. It is the task this website performs.
Since childhood, we have been in a process of permanent observation of some aspects of reality; these observations are collected up to seeing relationships others haven’t perceived, here is where creativity and innovation appear.
Rules of Creativity
1.- Discover what you love, following what creates spontaneous energy in you.
2.- Let your mind and imagination wander; In your mind is what you really are.
3.- Give credit to your intuition.
4.- Follow the process and rhythm of your mind, don’t force or delay it.
5.- Tell what you think, this helps to clarify what is generating in your mind.
6.- When it is clear, put it in practice to check it.
